Students will learn the traditional hand-building techniques during the first semester of Ceramics 1. These techniques will be taught in the following sequence: (1) Pinch, (2) Coil, and (3) Slab Construction. There will be a variety of projects assigned that will allow students to refine their skills over the course of the school year. A history of ceramics will be introduced through lecture and slide presentations. Students will need to keep a notebook that they can use in class and take notes in.
